Yesterday we had lunch in this hidden jewel on the coast in Cortez. It is right on the water and serves the most delicious grouper! They have a full menu as long as you are looking for fish and you can get it grilled, fried, sautéed or blackened depending on what you order. (they do have a Honey Pecan Chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs for landlovers)
Most of the fish has been freshly caught by local commercial fishermen. There is also a seafood market attached on the road side of the restaurant.
Depending on your GPS the restaurant is actually in Cortez, but you may have to use Bradenton to locate the restaurant. It is off of Cortez Ave before you get to the bridge to Anna Maria Island. It is informal, you order your food at a window and they bring it out to you. They have picnic tables dockside with umbrellas to sit at. They only take cash so be sure to take some!
We ordered grilled grouper and got 2 beautifully grilled pieces of the best grouper I have ever eaten, fries, cole slaw and delicious hush puppies. In addition to the grouper, fresh gulf shrimp, oysters, crab cakes, pompano, chowder and seafood salad are some of the other choices. They also have Key Lime Pie for dessert but we were unable to try it as they were out of it when we were there.
Beer and wines are also available as well as soft drinks.
