We tried Anthony’s Coal Oven Pizza last weekend. We had actually picked another place to try based on some reviews we’d read and it was closed at 8:45 on a Saturday night! What kind of pizza place closes that early? So we decided to try Anthony’s even though it is a chain. It is in a small strip mall in a corner on Brandon Blvd. We were promptly seated when we came in and our waitress was right there to get our drinks.
Our waitress couldn’t have been nicer and was happy to explain about their drinks and the pizza. A couple of times other waitresses checked with us to make sure we were doing well and made the remark that they all help each other. What a pleasant change that was. It seems like way too often unless you out and out stop someone who isn’t your server that they have blinders on.
We ordered a pizza with 4 items on it pepperoni, peppers, onions and mushrooms and a large came to about $24.00 so this isn’t cheap pizza. It is very good and the toppings were plentiful and fresh! The crust is thin and very good and I am not usually a thin crust kind of person. “Pizza Well Done” is their motto and they lived up to it.
Anthony’s has a full bar and a large selection of Draft Beers. I also saw a plate of wonderful looking meatballs go by that I am going to try when we go back.
